Job summary

Washoe County School District is seeking a Special Education Paraeducator Aide II at Spanish Springs High School. The position supports teachers in various SPED programs, providing one-to-one assistance and helping students with functional life skills and behavioral supports.

The role involves moving students, assisting with health and safety tasks, and contributing to progress monitoring and instructional materials.

Qualifications

• Experience assisting in special education classrooms.
• Ability to support individual or small groups of students.
• Familiarity with behavior plans and individualized education programs (IEPs).

Responsibilities

• Assist students with intellectual, physical, or behavioral disabilities in classroom activities.
• Record student progress and assist in preparing instructional materials and charts.
• Move and assist students weighing 50-80 pounds daily and safely in and out of seating or transportation.
• Follow behavior plans and reinforce learning concepts as outlined in IEPs.
• Provide attendant services and support health and hygiene activities as needed.
