Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with diverse needs under the direction of certified staff. You will help implement IEP goals and assist with behavior and academic supports.

The role emphasizes collaboration with teachers, adaptability to changing student needs, and maintaining confidentiality in a school setting. Training opportunities and inclusive support are provided.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or 72 quarter hours or successful ETS test.
• Right Response Trained or willing to be trained.
• First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to be trained.
• Ability to communicate effectively and listen actively.
• Ability to follow oral and written communications.
• Demonstrated organizational skills and flexibility.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently or in a team.
• Ability to work with staff, students, and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted learning experiences for students as directed by certificated staff.
• Monitor student behavior with focus on safety and academics.
• Implement behavior strategies and program modifications per student plans.
• Safely de-escalate students.
• Collect and chart data as directed by staff.
• Prepare materials and maintain records for behavior plans and IEPs.
• Assist with accessibility needs (lunch, doors, bus drop, etc.).
• Attend trainings and meetings as directed.
• Perform essential functions with or without accommodations.
