Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Paraeducator to provide support to students in the intensive resource room focusing on life and academic skills. This role involves working directly with students to enhance their learning experience and overseeing classroom activities under teacher supervision.

Applicants must have at least a high school diploma or GED, with additional education preferred. Responsibilities include assisting in various classroom activities and maintaining a safe environment for students.

Qualifications

• Must have demonstrated experience working with At-Risk and/or special education students.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Work with students in the intensive resource room on life and academic skills.
• Assist students with instruction, assessments, and classroom activities.
• Engage in non-violent crisis intervention and monitor student safety.

Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions

Effective working relationships with students and staff

Clear communication skills

Education

High School Diploma or GED

At least two years of study at an institution of higher education (60 semester hours)

Associate's degree or higher

Passing score on the ETS Parapro Assessment or MTTC-Professional Readiness Exam
