Position Summary

Kasson-Mantorville Schools is seeking a caring, dependable, and collaborativeSpecial Education Paraprofessionalto support kindergarten students with disabilities in their general education and special education environments.

The ideal candidate will understand thatstudents receiving special education services are first and foremost members of their general education classroom and school community.This position works closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, related service providers, and families to help students access instruction, develop independence, and participate meaningfully in the school day.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support kindergarten students with academic, behavioral, social, communication, developmental, and personal care needs.
• Provide individual and small-group instructional support under the direction of licensed staff, including clarifying directions, reinforcing skills, adapting assignments, and supporting task completion.
• Implement IEP accommodations, modifications, behavioral supports, and other interventions as directed.
• Promote inclusion and participation in the general education classroom while fostering student independence, communication, self-advocacy, social skills, problem-solving, and decision-making.
• Supervise and support students during classroom activities, transitions, arrival/dismissal, lunch, recess, specials, field trips, community activities, and other school experiences.
• Observe, collect, and document student performance and behavioral data as directed by the special education teacher.
• Assist with personal care and self-help skills, including dressing, feeding, hygiene, and toileting, when applicable and appropriately trained.
• Safely assist with student mobility, lifting, transfers, positioning, and use of adaptive or assistive equipment as directed and appropriately trained.
• Maintain student and family confidentiality and communicate professionally with students, families, staff, and colleagues.
• Collaborate as a member of the educational team and follow district policies, procedures, and staff direction.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
