Job summary

Tumwater School District No. 33 is seeking a 1:1 paraprofessional for Peter G Schmidt Elementary in a one-year position.

The role involves supporting students with IEP/504 plans, 1:1 and small-group instruction, and supervision in various environments including health rooms, library, and playground. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, CPI and First Aid/CPR where required, and WA driver’s license with reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; ESSA certification required for all positions (Associates or higher degree, minimum of 72 college quarter credits, or ETS Test).
• Strong written and verbal English skills.
• WA State driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel between schools if required.
• CPI training required for 1:1 paraprofessionals and self-contained settings.
• First Aid/CPR Certification for health room duties and related roles.
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals or small groups to implement accommodations per IEP/504/Title/LAP/multilingual services.
• Attend to student personal care needs as required throughout the educational environment.
• Provide motor therapy activities as directed by nurse/therapist/teacher.
• Work with students with severe needs and medical fragility.
• Maintain records and prepare materials related to IEP/ML.
• Operate bus lifts and assist with wheelchairs as needed.
• Supervise playground, lunchroom, and bus duties.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information.
