Job summary

Tumwater School District is seeking a Special Education Impact Paraprofessional for a tempoary position at 6 hours per day. The role supports students with special needs across classrooms, health room duties, and bus supervision as required.

The position requires an active ESSA certification, strong English skills, and ability to transfer students safely. CPI training and First Aid/CPR may be needed, with district-wide confidentiality and collaboration emphasized.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; ESSA certification required for all positions.
• Strong written and verbal English skills.
• WA State driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel between schools if required.
• CPI training required for paraprofessionals providing 1:1 support and in self-contained settings.
• First Aid/CPR Certification required for health room duties or related roles.
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementing accommodations and supports per IEP/504/Title/LAP/multilingual services.
• Attend to student personal care needs (transfers, toileting, hygiene, feeding) as required.
• Provide motor therapy activities as directed by nurse/therapist/teacher.
• Assist students with severe needs and medical fragility.
• Monitor student needs and apply appropriate intervention strategies.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
