Job summary

Tumwater School District No. 33 is hiring a 1:1 paraprofessional for East Olympia Elementary. This one-year position features 6.5 hours per day, 193 days per year, and a pay rate of $27.84 to $36.42 per hour. The role supports students under IEP/504/Title/LAP and multilingual services.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent with ESSA certification, strong English skills, and CPI/First Aid CPR as required. Applicants may need transportation between sites.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; ESSA certification required; 72 college quarter credits or ETS Test.
• Strong written and verbal English skills.
• WA State driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel between schools if required.
• CPI training required for 1:1 support and self-contained settings.
• First Aid/CPR Certification required for health room duties.
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Work with individuals or small groups to implement accommodations and support per IEP/504/Title/LAP/multilingual services.
• Attend to student personal care needs as assigned; assist with transfers as required.
• Provide motor therapy activities as requested by nurse, therapist, or teacher.
• Work with students with severe needs and medically fragile conditions.
• Identify student needs and apply appropriate strategies and interventions.
• Address discipline positively; participate in de-escalation/restraint as needed.
• Assist classroom teachers and provide library assistance.
• Supervise playground, lunchroom, and bus; health room duties as trained.
• Maintain records and prepare materials related to IEP/ML; manage paperwork.
