Job summary

Evergreen Public Schools is seeking a Special Education 1:1 Paraeducator Bus Duty at Evergreen High School in Vancouver, WA. This part-time role supports 1:1 student transportation and safety on the regular home-to-school run and during emergencies.

The position reports to the Building Principal/Transportation Supervisor and includes duties such as assisting the bus driver, completing paperwork, and coordinating with administrators and parents as needed.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and parents.
• Demonstrated ability to work with and supervise students.
• Previous experience with behaviorally disabled students preferred.
• Personal characteristics of flexibility, initiative, cooperativeness and confidentiality.
• Ability to demonstrate competency in detailing information to complete paperwork.
• Ability to assist bus driver in loading/unloading wheelchair-bound students (physical requirement).

Responsibilities

• Assist the bus driver in loading and unloading wheelchair-bound students on and off the bus during regular routes and evacuations.
• Maintain a positive climate for students during transport.
• Complete daily student behavior management forms and submit to supervisor.
• Implement and monitor behavior plans per IEP.
• Attend conferences with administrators, parents and students when necessary.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
