Job summary

Evergreen Public Schools at Hollingsworth Academy in Vancouver, WA, is seeking a Special Education 1:1 Paraeducator Bus Duty to assist the bus driver on the home-to-school route, help wheelchair-bound students, and ensure safe transport.

The position is part-time (0.33 hours/day, 190 days/year) with employment benefits after 630 hours; starting date immediately with potential hire after 10/16/26.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
• Demonstrated ability to work with and supervise students.
• Previous experience working with behaviorally disabled students preferred.
• Must possess personal characteristics of flexibility, initiative, cooperativeness, and confidentiality.
• Must be able to demonstrate competency in detailing information necessary to complete paperwork.
• Most possess physical strength and ability to assist bus driver in loading and unloading wheelchair-bound students on and off the bus and to deal with potentially aggressive behavior of students.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
• Assist the bus driver in loading and unloading wheelchair-bound students on and off the bus on the regular home-to-school run and during emergencies and/or evacuations.
• Assist the bus driver in establishing and maintaining a positive climate for students during transport.
• Act quickly and be aware of surroundings so as to ensure the safety of the students being transported.
• Complete daily individual student behavior management forms and turn in to supervisor.
• Implement and monitor student behavioral management plans in accordance with the student's individualized educational program (IEP).
• Attend conferences with administrators, parents, and students when necessary.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
