Vancouver Public Schools is seeking a Special Program Paraeducator 1 for our Special Education Preschool program. This one-on-one, afternoon session role runs 3 hours per day, Tuesday through Friday, nine months a year.

The position requires teamwork with licensed staff, adherence to IEP goals, and ability to support children with varying disabilities. The role emphasizes safety, de-escalation training, confidentiality, and collaboration with the educational team to promote student growth.

Qualifikationen

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Official transcripts or ParaPro score required with application.
• Experience with children in educational settings preferred.
• Experience on an educational team preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills required.
• Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
• Experience with children with moderate to severe disabilities preferred.

Aufgaben

• Treat all stakeholders with dignity and respect at all times.
• Serve as a positive role model for students and model expected behaviors.
• Collaborate with the teacher and team to implement IEP goals.
• Manage student behavior and assist in class activities.
• De-escalate emotional/behavioral crises as appropriate.
• Assist with student transportation as needed.
• Prepare materials and assist with record keeping and data entry.
• Support learning through individual and small-group work.
