Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant to support a 1-1 student in the Medically Fragile service pathway. The role involves assisting in classroom and in-home settings, following IEP plans, and attending meetings.

The candidate should be able to provide basic care, adapt activities under the teacher's direction, and participate in safety procedures. A clean driving license and vehicle are required for some assignments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and eligibility for paraeducator credentials.
• Experience with special needs students and IEP processes is preferred.
• Ability to follow instructional plans and implement classroom adaptations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising and caring for special needs students in the classroom or self-contained settings.
• Implement IEP objectives and adapt activities under teacher guidance.
• Monitor student behavior and assist with personal care as needed.
• Attend IEP meetings and communicate student progress to staff and parents.
• Provide first aid/CPR as required and ensure student safety in all settings.
