Seattle Public Schools is seeking a dedicated special education classroom teacher to join our team. The role involves delivering instruction under the principal or program manager, tailoring objectives, and supporting students with diverse needs.

Responsibilities include planning individualized lesson plans, implementing strategies, counseling and supervising, evaluating progress, and collaborating with parents and staff to meet IEP goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and Special Education endorsement are required.
• Experience teaching diverse urban student populations and adapting instruction.
• Knowledge of IEP development, implementation and progress reporting.

Responsibilities

• Fosters an educational environment and designs instructional programs to meet individual needs.
• Plans individual lesson objectives and adapts programs as necessary.
• Uses appropriate instructional methods and materials aligned to curriculum objectives.
• Provides guidance, counseling and discipline to support standards of achievement.
• Collaborates with parents, specialists and staff to support student progress.
• Establishes classroom goals and documents student progress for reports.
• Directs assigned non-certificated staff and attends required meetings.
• Collects data and develops/ evaluates IEPs; reports to parents and administrators.
