Job summary

Madison Metropolitan School District is seeking Medically Fragile Special Education Assistants to support students with complex health needs in inclusive classrooms and community settings. You will assist with mobility, feeding, medication administration, daily care, and data recording under the health team’s guidance.

Work may involve lifting up to 50 lbs, wheelchair assistance, and collaboration with teachers, nurses, and therapists.

Qualifications

• Desire to work with students who have complex health needs.
• Experience working with children.
• AHA BLS CPR/AED for HCP certification required or obtainable within 3 months of hire and renewed annually.
• Experience working cross-culturally and commitment to cultural competence.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with health needs under teacher and health staff supervision.
• Provide support for mobility, positioning, feeding, bathrooming, and other daily care.
• Maintain health records and daily charting per health plan and BEP.
• Support classroom activities and assist with instructional programs as needed.
• Assist with loading/unloading students from vehicles and accompanying them on outings.
