Job summary

The St in O'Fallon, IL is seeking a dedicated Special Education Individual Care Aide to provide one-on-one support to a student with a disability, ensuring safety and active participation across school settings.

The role involves assisting with physical care, reinforcing lessons, monitoring behavior, and collaborating with teachers to promote independence and progress toward IEP goals. 7 hours per day on typical school days, with professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Paraprofessional letter of approval is required.
• Pleasant collaborative personality and professional appearance.
• Able to work with and around children.
• Ability to operate tech equipment.
• Possess keyboarding skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Emotionally and physically capable of duties.
• Strong command of English (spoken and written).
• Basic knowledge of first aid and health room procedures.
• General knowledge of office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, individualized support to a student with disabilities in alignment with the IEP.
• Assist with physical care tasks to ensure safety and comfort.
• Support participation in academic instruction by reinforcing lessons and assisting with organization.
• Supervise transitions, lunch, recess, and other non-classroom settings.
• Monitor and document student behavior and progress with the teacher.
• Assist with behavior intervention plans as directed by staff.
• Maintain professional communication with supervising staff.
• Help student develop independence and self-advocacy.
• Foster a caring, structured learning environment.
• Participate in professional development and staff meetings.
• Support instructional activities by guiding groups and administering assessments.
