Job summary

School Administrative Unit #9 seeks a 1:1 Paraprofessional to assist a student in the classroom and work under the supervision of teachers and special education staff.

The role includes supporting instructional activities, performing recordkeeping and data collection, and implementing modifications per IEPs and behavior plans to promote student achievement in a respectful, confidential setting.

Qualifications

• Two years postsecondary study or an Associate's Degree required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred with educational experience.
• Ability to work under supervision in a school setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers by performing recordkeeping, data collection, and filing.
• Implement modifications and accommodations as required by IEPs, 504s and behavior plans.
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Support students in nonacademic areas.
• Maintain a high level of ethical and professional behavior and confidentiality with regard to student matters and all other confidential school business.
• Provide a safe environment for students.
• Cover for teachers when they are in a meeting.
• Follow district policies and procedures in assisting and motivating students in academic, social, and community environments.
• Assist the Media Specialist in maintaining the library-media center operations.
• Perform general / building clerical tasks and greet visitors.
