Qualifications

• 48 core college credits or Praxis Paraprofessional passing score (457).
• Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
• Patient, yet firm with students and staff.
• Able to work and communicate with staff, students, and the public.
• Able to perform assigned duties.
• Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory.
• Alternatives to the above qualifications may be acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Prepares classroom activities for the assigned student under the supervision of a certified teacher.
• Works individually or with small groups to reinforce materials.
• Assists in drill work and with adapted curriculum.
• Assists small groups in library or computer labs.
• Assists individual students needing special attention.
• Contributes to data collection of student progress.
• Guides independent study and remedial work set up by the teacher.
• Assists in non-instructional classroom duties (snack, toilet, clothing routines).
• Helps adapt curriculum and materials for classroom use.
• Maintains high ethical standards and confidentiality.
• Maintains regular, predictable attendance.
