Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools is seeking a Special Program Paraeducator 1:1 for Special Education Preschool at Peter S Ogden Elementary in Vancouver, WA. The role is a 3-hour-per-day, Tue-Fri afternoon assignment for 9 months, working one-on-one with a student in a classroom setting.

The position requires CPI/de‑escalation training, ability to lift and assist students, and strong teamwork with certified staff to implement IEP goals and support student learning.

Qualifications

• Documentation of high school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree or 60–72 college credits OR ParaPro score 461+ required.
• One year of related experience with children preferred.
• Experience in educational team settings preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in implementing and evaluating IEP goals.
• Provide instructional support in various subjects and life skills.
• Assist with data collection, lesson prep, and materials.
• De-escalate emotional/behavioral crises and follow behavior plans.
• Support student safety during school activities and transport as needed.
