Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking a dedicated paraeducator for a 1:1 position to support an 8th grade student in the LRC program. The role requires completion of the General Paraeducator Certificate and adherence to district training timelines, with 28 hours of training and certification prerequisites.

Expected start date is November 2026. The position offers a full benefits package and 183 work days per year, at 0.8125 FTE with 6.5 hours per day plus a 30-minute lunch, totaling 7 hours on campus.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate degree or 72 college credits or equivalent.
• Must have General Paraeducator Certificate and be willing to obtain/maintain state requirements.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Background clearance (WSP and FBI) and related screenings required.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction and support to students individually or in small groups as directed by teachers.
• Assist with daily living activities and monitor student safety and well-being.
• Supervise students during recess, lunch, and transportation as needed.
• Record progress and communicate with teachers and families; maintain confidentiality.
• Assist in adapting materials and facilitating tests and assessments as assigned.
