Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking a 1:1 paraeducator for a 3rd-grade student, starting 9/1/2026. The position requires completion of the General Paraeducator Certificate and 28 hours of district training within specified timeframes.

The role supports instructional and personal care needs for students with diverse disabilities. Staff will work 6.5 hours per day, 0.8125 FTE, with a full benefits package and a 183-day school year.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 72 credit hours and one year of experience with students who have special needs.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to be trained within 90 days.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and assist with daily living activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students individually or in small groups per teacher guidance; support safe instructional environment.
• Assist with self-care tasks as needed, including feeding, toileting, and personal care.
• Supervise students during recess, lunch, and transit, and assist in classroom management.
