Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools seeks a dedicated Education Support Professional/Paraeducator to assist a certificated teacher with instructional and personal care needs for students with a broad range of disabilities. You will support academic interventions and supervise students in various settings on campus.

Position requires completion of the state General Paraeducator Certificate and 28 hours of district training within set timeframes; 7.5 hours on campus daily, with a 30-minute lunch, 72 college

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 72 credit hours and one year of experience with special needs students.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to be trained within 90 days.
• WSP and FBI background clearance required.
• Knowledge of basic sign language is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist certificated teacher with instructional and personal care needs for students with disabilities.
• Provide data on student progress and communicate with staff and parents as assigned.
• Supervise students during recess, lunch, and transitions; ensure safety.
• Assist with adapting materials and activities and support classroom management.
