Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools seeks a paraeducator to provide one-on-one support to students with disabilities, assist a certificated teacher, and participate in required training.

Requires General Paraeducator Certificate and 28 hours of district training within specified timelines. Responsibilities include supporting instructional activities, data recording, and collaboration with staff to meet student needs.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 72 credit hours of post-secondary education, plus one year of experience working with special needs individuals or equivalent training.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students individually or in small groups; assist with activities of daily living and personal care needs.
• Supervise and support students during recess, lunch, and transport; assist in classroom management and discipline per district guidelines.
• Record student progress and communicate with staff and guardians; maintain student records and data for IEP goals.
