Job summary

Cover People is recruiting for an experienced Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with complex SEMH needs in a mainstream primary school in North Manchester. The role is long-term, starting in October, 30 hours per week, with focus on emotional regulation, positive behaviour strategies and close collaboration with the classroom teacher and wider school team.

Experience with challenging behaviour and EHCP targets is highly beneficial; all pay rates include statutory

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEMH needs.
• Ability to de-escalate and apply positive behaviour strategies.
• Patient, calm and consistent approach; clear boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with complex SEMH needs.
• Build a trusting relationship and support emotional regulation.
• Support access to lessons and classroom activities; develop routines.
• Collaborate with the class teacher and school team; monitor progress.
• Support implementation of EHCP targets and safeguarding procedures.
