Job summary

Camas School District is seeking a Paraprofessional for High Needs 1:1 classroom support in its special education programs. The role collaborates with teachers to assist students in accessing both regular and special education activities.

The assistant will help implement IEPs, adapt materials, and support behavioral plans while ensuring safety and inclusivity in a dynamic school setting. This is a 190-day position with prorated pay based on FTE.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 72 quarter/48 semester credits OR AA/AS degree.
• Complete the Fundamental Course of Study and General Certificate per state guidelines.
• Experience with special needs students in an educational setting.
• Demonstrated academic proficiency.
• Sign language knowledge preferred.
• MS Office and database entry skills.
• Acquire first aid/CPR certification.
• Training in the use of physical restraints.

Responsibilities

• Assist 1:1 or small groups under teacher supervision.
• Prepare and adapt materials for students.
• Implement IEPs as designated.
• Provide for the physical needs of students.
• Maintain records and collect data.
• Provide progress reports to teachers.
• Support behavioral plans and classroom adaptation.
• Foster independent, social, and self-help skills.
• Provide first aid and safety as needed.
• Other duties to support student success.
