Job summary

Boston Public Schools seeks a One-to-One Paraprofessional to support individual students under a teacher's supervision. You will assist with instruction, behavior management, communication, and daily student care to enable participation in activities.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, 48 college credits or an Associate’s Degree or ParaPro/WorkKeys certification, and ABA training. Flexibility to meet student needs is essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 48 college credits or an Associate's Degree, or passing ParaPro or WorkKeys.
  • Experience working with a student with disabilities.
  • Ability to collaborate with parents, guardians, admins, teachers, and students.
  • Able to adapt to student and family needs.
  • ABA training required.

Responsibilities

  • Work with small groups in instructional settings and assist with daily care needs.
  • Assist with toileting, diapering, lifting/transfers, and personal hygiene.
  • Support language systems (ASL, SEE2, PECS, communication boards).
  • Provide behavior management, redirection and de-escalation as needed.
  • Collaborate with classroom teacher to implement planned activities.
  • Maintain open communications with parents and staff.
  • Perform other duties as requested by School leadership.
