Job summary

Boston Public Schools seeks a One-to-One Paraprofessional to support a student under supervision of a teacher, participating in daily instruction and activities across the school and program to which the student is assigned. The role includes working with students with various disabilities, assisting with instruction, communication supports, life skills, and collaborating with staff and families.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting students with disabilities in educational settings.
• Ability to work with teachers, parents, and administrators.
• Current authorization to work in the United States on or before start date.

Responsibilities

• Assist with small-group instruction and daily activities.
• Support toileting, diapering, lifting, and transfers while ensuring safety.
• Maintain personal hygiene and assist the school nurse as needed.
• Provide communication support using various systems (ASL, SEE 2, PECS).
• Collaborate with teachers to implement lesson plans and reinforce learning.
• Communicate with parents and staff to support student progress.
• Handle behavior management, redirection, and de-escalation; assist with restraints if required.
