Job summary

Mukilteo School District Harbour Pointe Middle School in Mukilteo, WA is seeking a 1:1 paraeducator to support a student with 1:1 assistance. Hours are 7:50 a.m. to 2:50 p.m., 180 days per year, with benefits. Start date is immediate, with duties including instructional support, behavior supervision, and safety care.

The role reports to the principal and requires completing WA state paraeducator qualifications; preferred experience with assistive technology and diverse learner needs.

Qualifications

• Ability to strengthen job-related competencies.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher(s) with the daily supervision of students for the purpose of maintaining and providing a safe and positive learning environment.
• Under the teacher’s direction, administer multiple student tests, collect and maintain diagnostic and test data, update student records, and assess student progress.
• Assist teacher(s) with monitoring and managing student behavior and progress; share observations with teacher(s) and other professional staff.
• Assist teacher(s) with implementation of various strategies to address diverse student needs and support individual educational growth and achievement goals.
• Provide clerical and general classroom assistance for staff, which may include collection and data entry of information, correspondence, copying, filing, and preparation of classroom materials.
• Administer first aid, medical assistance, physical support and personal care for the purpose of providing appropriate care for ill, medically fragile, and/or disabled children.
• Provide physical assistance for students with special needs such as feeding, toileting, proper lifting and positioning of students in and out of chairs and with adaptive equipment; assist students with the use specific equipment related to their disability (e.g., materials, assistive technology, visual aids).
• Track and dispense authorized student medications.
• Perform crossing guard duties before and after school to supervise and monitor students.
• Assist with monitoring students in the cafeteria and/or at recess; assist with maintaining a clean and orderly environment for student safety and well-being.
• Participate in meetings and training for the purpose of sharing information, improving the employee skills and knowledge, implementing school initiatives and addressing student needs.
• Comply with District Policies.
• Maintain consistent presence at assigned work site and regularly work hours specified.
• May be subject to reassignment of job duties depending on program, building and student needs.
• Such other related job duties as assigned by supervisor(s).

72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher

Passing PESB-approved assessments (e.g., ParaPro, Paraprofessional, Master Teacher Online Training)
