Job summary

North Elementary in Moses Lake, Washington, seeks a Paraeducator Life Skills 1:1 (Behavior) to support a student with behavioral needs in both Special Education and General Education classrooms.

The position offers a 6.50 hour daily schedule over 180 days per year, reporting to the student’s case manager, and requires adherence to the Behavior Intervention Plan, Safety Care training, and punctuality.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have earned 72 college level credits from an accredited institution, have a college degree, or pass the ETS Assessment.
• Previous experience working with students in individual and small group instructional settings.
• Working knowledge of education fundamentals; training and experience using current curriculum preferred.
• Ability to manage large groups of students in an unstructured environment while maintaining safety.
• Punctuality and consistent attendance.
• Willingness to assist students with personal care tasks (toileting, feeding, mobility).

Responsibilities

• Individualized support tailored to the student’s IEP and needs.
• Provide behavioral and academic support to engage the student in learning activities.
• Collaborate with the case manager and staff to implement strategies for participation and success.
• Promote independence by helping the student develop task completion and self-management skills.
• Follow the Behavior Intervention Plan and district de-escalation techniques to ensure safety.
• Maintain open communication with supervising teacher and document progress and challenges.
