Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is hiring a 1:1 paraeducator to support a 6th grade student with diverse needs. The position is 0.8125 FTE, working 6.5 hours per day, with a start date as soon as possible. Training includes a General Paraeducator Certificate and ongoing professional development during the first year.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 72 college credits required; ability to assist in instruction for students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students individually or in small groups as directed by teachers.
• Assist with activities of daily living, toileting, feeding and dressing as needed.
• Supervise students during recess, lunch, and transportation as required.
• Record progress and maintain communication with teachers and staff.
• Assist in adapting materials and activities and in assessments as assigned.
• Maintain attendance and follow district policies and guidelines.
