Job summary

Jobgether, on behalf of a partner company, seeks an Ubuntu Security Engineer based in Turkey to join a global security team. You will investigate vulnerabilities across the Ubuntu ecosystem, audit code, and collaborate with open source communities to deliver robust security patches.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of software security vulnerabilities and attack techniques.
• Familiarity with coordinated vulnerability disclosure and responsible security communication.
• Experience with open source development tools and workflows.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (C, Python, Go, Rust, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript).
• Experience with Linux, ideally Ubuntu or Debian-based environments.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cultures and teams.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in CS/STEM or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Analyse, investigate, fix, and test vulnerabilities in Ubuntu ecosystem packages.
• Monitor vulnerabilities from discovery to release using internal security tools.
• Collaborate with internal teams and upstream developers to develop patches.
• Audit source code to identify security weaknesses and remediation needs.
• Design features and tooling to improve product security and automation.
• Document findings and remediation activities clearly for stakeholders.
• Engage with the open source community and industry security initiatives.
• Work autonomously within a globally distributed team and take ownership of projects.
