As the director of operations within one or more of Sum Capital’s portfolio companies, you will act as a hands-on operator responsible for driving growth, operational excellence, and team performance. You will work closely with founders and the Sum Capital team to ensure the business scales sustainably, while maintaining high product and service quality. This is a generalist leadership role ideal for someone who thrives on solving problems, implementing systems, and driving results.
1. Business & Operational Oversight
Oversee day-to-day operations across one or more portfolio companies, ensuring smooth workflows and cost efficiency
Build and refine SOPs for supply chain, service, production, or retail processes
Monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement across sales, cost control, and customer experience
2. Marketing & Growth Execution
Collaborate with internal and external teams to lead brand awareness, customer acquisition, and loyalty initiatives
Launch and monitor campaigns across digital, offline, and B2B channels as appropriate
Identify partnership or pop-up opportunities to expand market presence
3. Team Management & Recruitment
Lead hiring, onboarding, and ongoing performance management of frontline and mid-level staff
Develop a strong operational team and instill a performance-driven, accountable culture
Ensure training and upskilling initiatives are aligned with company goals
4. Quality Control & Customer Experience
Set and enforce standards for product and service quality
Conduct regular reviews and audits to ensure consistency, hygiene, and brand experience
Resolve operational issues quickly, with a focus on service recovery and brand protection
5. Reporting & Strategy Support
Provide regular updates and dashboards to group CEO
Participate in strategic reviews, budgeting, and business planning cycles
Execute special projects, expansion initiatives, or crisis-response efforts as needed
3 years of experience in business operations, general management, or F&B/lifestyle brand management
Track record of execution across marketing, operations, and people management
Comfortable operating independently, with high accountability and entrepreneurial thinking
Strong communication, analytical, and leadership skills
Fluency in English and Mandrain
Autonomy and ownership over real businesses with growing customer bases
Fast-track exposure to multi-brand portfolio management and real-world entrepreneurship

This is a hands-on leadership role within one of Sum Capital’s portfolio companies. As Business Manager, you will take full ownership of the business’s day-to-day performance—running operations, leading the team, executing growth initiatives, and ensuring top-tier product and service quality. You will work closely with the founder and the Sum Capital team to bring structure, drive results, and help scale the business sustainably.
