Job summary

A prominent international school in Singapore is looking for an experienced Teacher of Ivrit to start in August 2026. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the Jewish Education and Hebrew curriculum while maintaining high teaching standards. Candidates must possess Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent, a degree in a relevant subject, and at least 5 years' teaching experience. Fluency in Hebrew is essential for this role.

Qualifications

Job description

SMMIS is looking for an experienced Teacher of Ivrit (Secondary School) to start in August 2026.

Job Purposes:
  • To deliver the Jewish Education and Ivrit (Hebrew) curriculum.
  • To play a key role in the Jewish Education department.
  • To be accountable for the standards of teaching and learning and pupil progress.
Main Responsibilities:
  • To deliver the formal and informal Jewish Education/Hebrew curriculum in accordance with the School’s timetable
  • To keep up to date with developments in the curriculum and in teaching practice methodology
  • To develop the use of ICT to support and enhance teaching and learning
  • To exercise professional skills and judgement
  • To impact on the educational progress of all pupils in the school
  • To work with others to ensure the most appropriate links are made to ensure that the curriculum meets the individual students’ needs
  • To maintain accurate records of all assessments and feedback of all students
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Degree, or equivalent, in specialist subject or a related subject
  • A proven track record of outstanding teaching
  • At least 5 years’ teaching experience
  • Experience and familiarity with International Education essential
  • Experience of teaching IPC/IMYC/IGCSE would be an advantage
  • Evidence of appropriate in-service training
  • Experience in the teaching of the Hebrew language, grammar and comprehension both for native speakers and as a second language
  • Ability to teach at elementary and secondary school level
  • Knowledgeable in the Israel ministry of education curriculum would be an advantage
  • Fluent in written and spoken Hebrew
