Job summary

A leading human resource company in Singapore is seeking a System Engineer to maintain Radar systems and IT security systems onboard surface vessels. The role requires familiarity with engineering, experience with radar systems, and the ability to perform troubleshooting and installation tasks. Candidates should be able to work independently as well as in a team and must also be Singaporean. This position may involve short overseas attachments and a shuttle bus service is available at selected MRT stations.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience with firewalls, servers, intrusion detection systems, endpoint protection.
• Understanding maintenance regime and basic experience in troubleshooting system till card level.
• Able to work with challenging customers and independently.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Radar systems onboard and IT security systems onboard vessels.
• Work with the Superintendent to keep systems at the highest availability and readiness.
• Perform defect troubleshooting and installation/removal work for equipment.
• Manage maintenance operations at team or workshop level.

Job description

System Engineer

You will be responsible for the maintenance of Radar systems onboard and IT security systems onboard surface vessels and shore facilities. You will work closely with other engineers, Service Delivery Managers and Project Managers to deliver quality maintenance services to our customers. You will have opportunities to be short-listed for participation in short-term overseas attachment and training courses. You will have opportunities to manage maintenance operations at team, or workshop level.

• Work with the Superintendent to upkeep the systems onboard the naval platforms at the highest state of availability and readiness.
• Perform radar systems maintenance tasks onboard vessels, workshop, and shipyards
• Perform defect troubleshooting on radar systems
• Perform installation/removal work for equipment/systems
• Perform refurbishment of electronics unit/assemblies

Qualities We Value

• Knowledge in Engineering, IT, or equivalent
• Knowledge and experience on radar system.
• Naval related maintenance or training certifications would be advantageous
• Knowledge in firewalls, servers, intrusion detection systems, endpoint protection, VMware, SIEM, PAM and Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) would be advantageous
• Good working knowledge and experience working on-board commercial and military vessels on underwater, mechanical / electronics / electrical systems
• Good working knowledge and experience on computer software (words,excel).
• Understanding maintenance regime and basic experience in troubleshooting system till card level
• Able to work well in a team and independently as when required.
• Able to work with challenging customers.
• Able to work outdoors and onboard naval platforms.
• Able to sail for up to a week if required.
