Job summary

V-SWIFT PTE. LTD. seeks a Student Welfare Officer to support the Year Head with fact-finding, case documentation, and restorative processes for student concerns. You will engage with students, parents, and staff to ensure safe, constructive outcomes while maintaining confidentiality.

The role requires 2+ years in youth or school settings, strong communication, and the ability to handle sensitive situations with impartiality and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Youth Work, Education or related discipline would be advantageous.
• At least 2 years' experience working directly with children or youths in school, youth, community or social-service settings.
• Experience in student discipline, case management, restorative practices, counselling support or youth mentoring would be advantageous.
• Able to establish rapport with primary-school-aged children while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Able to conduct sensitive conversations objectively and document information accurately.
• Able to remain calm, impartial and non-judgmental in conflict situations.
• Strong written and verbal communication, including concise case notes for school staff and parents.
• Sound judgement in recognising cases requiring escalation to school personnel.
• High integrity and discretion in handling confidential student and family information.

Responsibilities

• Fact-finding: gather accounts and information from affected parties to establish a clear picture.
• Case Inquiry and documentation: support Year Head in establishing facts through interviews and records.
• Student engagement: engage students to build rapport and facilitate positive outcomes.
• Restorative and conflict-resolution: facilitate restorative conversations when appropriate.
• Parent engagement: support communication with parents, gathering information and providing updates.
• Escalation of concerns: promptly escalate safety or well-being concerns to Year Head.
• Student supervision and presence: maintain visibility during recess, exams, detention, and movement.
• Record-keeping and reporting: maintain case notes and provide progress updates.
• Detention supervision: supervise detention and refer concerns to Year Head as needed.
