Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Social Work, Psychology, Youth Work or related Social Science.
• Certifications in stress management, anger management, suicide prevention or grief counselling are advantageous.
• At least 3 years of experience working with youths aged 12–18, preferably in a school, residential home or community setting.
• High emotional intelligence and ability to remain calm and empathetic in challenging situations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage youths while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Patient, compassionate, resilient and able to work collaboratively.
• Open to new ideas and approaches when supporting students.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of at-risk students facing absenteeism, behavioural issues, and engagement challenges.
• Conduct home visits when approved to assess needs and provide support.
• Conduct regular mentoring sessions and check-ins to build rapport and guide positive changes.
• De-escalate emotional distress and refer cases to school staff as needed.
• Facilitate restorative conversations to develop self-regulation and decision-making.
• Support students returning from suspension with mentoring and progress monitoring.
• Supervise students during in-school suspension and detention.
• Maintain accurate case records and provide progress reports.
• Plan and facilitate sessions on anger management and social skills.
• Collaborate with Student Management, Year Heads, Form Teachers and Counsellors.
