Job description
What the role is

We are seeking an experienced Solution/ Systems Architect to spearhead the next phase of payments development in Singapore, particularly in the establishment of the Nexus Global Payments (NGP). Set up by the central banks of India, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand, Nexus is a multilateral payment scheme dedicated to transforming cross-border transactions in line with the G20 Roadmap for Enhancing Cross-border Payments targets of speed, cost, accessibility, and transparency. Nexus revolutionises instant cross-border payments by inter‑connecting domestic Instant Payment Systems (IPS), facilitating secure, real‑time transactions globally. With a single integration into Nexus, payment systems can access a global network, eliminating the need for expensive, custom solutions. NGP is incorporated as a not‑for‑profit CLG headquartered in Singapore. More information about NGP can be found at: https://www.nexusglobalpayments.org/ The Solution/ Systems Architect is responsible for defining and governing the end‑to‑end technical architecture of Nexus Global Payments. The role ensures that the Nexus Gateway and its integrations with IPSOs, PSPs, and FXPs are designed for interoperability, resilience, and security. The Architect will work closely with the Nexus Technical Operator (NTO), and will provide independent validation of the NTO’s solution design. The Solution/ Systems Architect will be reporting to NGP's Head of Technology.

What you will be working on
  • Define and maintain the technical architecture covering application, infrastructure, network, and security domains.
  • Produce and review architectural artefacts, including component diagrams, sequence flows, logical data models, and deployment views.
  • Ensure integration requirements between Nexus Gateway, IPSOs, PSPs, and FXPs are clearly defined and consistently implemented.
  • Validate the technical architecture, challenging assumptions where necessary while offering pragmatic alternatives.
  • Design for interoperability and avoidance of lock‑in, promoting open standards (ISO 20022, APIs, PKI).
  • Develop, review and maintain resilience and recovery models, including active/active, failover, and monitoring capabilities.
  • Define and review/challenge trust boundaries, certificate and key management flows, and threat models.
  • Contribute to SOC/NOC design and promote use of advanced monitoring, anomaly detection, and AI‑assisted triage.
  • Work closely with the Nexus scheme workstream and MAS regulatory stakeholders to align technical designs with compliance and supervisory expectations.
