Job summary

Royal Ocean Marine Enterprise (ROME) invites a driven Shipbroker/Cargo Broker to join its Singapore commercial desk. If you have hands-on dry bulk experience and seek greater autonomy, this is your chance to build a direct client book within a global network.

You will develop and close fixtures, manage relationships across APAC, and collaborate with senior brokers in an entrepreneurial, flat structure supported by a strong network and operations team.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of active experience in dry bulk shipbroking, chartering, or dry cargo operations.
• Strong drive to build an independent client base or expand a young network.
• Solid understanding of dry bulk trade flows, charterparty terms, freight calculations.
• Entrepreneurial, proactive, and resilient with strong negotiation instincts.
• Exceptional English communication; additional regional languages are advantageous.
• Based in Singapore or eligible to work locally.

Responsibilities

• Develop, negotiate, and close dry bulk spot fixtures and time charters.
• Onboard new shipowners, charterers, traders across APAC routes.
• Monitor freight trends and vessel availability to advise clients.
• Negotiate charterparties (NYPE, Gencon) including rates and laytime.
• Co-broker with European/Middle East desks to maximise deals.
• Support voyages with post-fixture and operations teams.

Position Overview

Are you a driven dry bulk shipbroker with at least 1 year of hands-on industry experience, ready for greater commercial freedom and room to grow? We are seeking an ambitious, high-energy Shipbroker / Cargo Broker (Dry Bulk) to join our client Singapore commercial desk. You will work alongside seasoned brokers in an entrepreneurial, flat environment where your initiative is backed by a global network, strong operational support, and a collaborative team structure designed to help you succeed.

Key Responsibilities

• Deal Origination & Broking: Develop, negotiate, and close dry bulk spot fixtures and time charters across Handysize, Supramax, Ultramax, or Panamax segments.
• Client Portfolio Development: Actively hunt, pitch, and onboarding new shipowners, charterers, commodity traders, and industrial cargo operators across APAC and Indian Ocean routes.
• Market Advisory: Monitor daily freight trends, vessel availability, and commodity flows to provide actionable market intelligence and advisory to clients.
• Charterparty Negotiation: Structure and finalize charterparty agreements (NYPE, Gencon, etc.), rates, laytime, and specialized terms to secure strong commercial deals.
• Global Collaboration: Work closely with international desks across Europe and the Middle East to co-broker fixtures, share tonnage/cargo orders, and maximize deal flows.
• Voyage Execution Support: Collaborate with post-fixture and operations teams to monitor voyage progress and resolve operational or laytime queries seamlessly.

Candidate Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 1+ years of active experience in dry bulk shipbroking, chartering, or dry cargo commercial operations.
• Commercial Ambition: Strong drive to build an independent client base or expand an existing young network, with the confidence to hunt for new accounts.
• Industry Foundations: Solid understanding of dry bulk trade flows, basic charterparty terms, freight calculations, and post-fixture processes.
• Mindset: Entrepreneurial, proactive, and resilient, with high emotional intelligence and top-tier negotiation instincts.
• Communication Skills: Exceptional written and spoken English. Proficiency in additional regional languages is a strong advantage for regional coverage.
• Location: Must be based in Singapore or eligible to work locally.
