Job summary

A Confidential technology company is seeking an experienced RF IC Designer to drive high-performance CMOS RF solutions from system definition to silicon validation.

You will collaborate with customers, suppliers and internal teams, own RF circuit design tasks, and contribute to layout, parasitic analysis and post-layout verification throughout the development cycle.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a focus on RF/microwave circuits or electromagnetics.
• 5+ years of RF IC design experience.
• Strong understanding of RF fundamentals including Smith charts, transmission lines and substrate coupling.
• Experience with advanced CMOS technologies, preferably FD SOI or FinFET.
• Experience with silicon validation and high-frequency measurement equipment.

Responsibilities

• Translate system requirements into RF specifications and perform system-level analysis (gain, noise, linearity, power).
• Design and optimise RF and analog blocks including TIA, driver, VCO, PLL, LNA, PA and mixer circuits.
• Develop high performance RF solutions with emphasis on noise, linearity, impedance matching and power efficiency.
• Carry out EM simulations and analyse parasitics, inductors, transformers and transmission lines.
• Own RF IC layout, including floorplanning, routing, DRC, LVS and parasitic extraction.

I am recruiting for a RF IC Design position with a confidential, cutting edge technology company developing advanced CMOS solutions.

This is an opportunity for an experienced RF IC designer to work across the full development cycle, from system definition and circuit design through to silicon validation. The role will also involve close interaction with customers, suppliers and internal engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Translate system requirements into RF specifications and perform system level analysis covering gain, noise, linearity and power
• Design and optimise RF and analog blocks including TIA, driver, VCO, PLL, LNA, PA and mixer circuits
• Develop high performance RF solutions with a focus on noise, linearity, impedance matching and power efficiency
• Carry out EM simulations and analyse the impact of parasitics, inductors, transformers and transmission lines
• Take ownership of RF IC layout, including floorplanning, routing, DRC, LVS and parasitic extraction
• Work with layout engineers on post-layout simulation and optimisation
• Support design reviews, methodology development and improvements to design processes
• Contribute to silicon bring up, validation and debugging using equipment such as VNAs, spectrum analysers and RF probe stations
• Research new circuit techniques, process technologies and design approaches
• Produce clear technical documentation and reports throughout the development cycle

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, with a strong focus on RF, microwave circuits or electromagnetics
• 5+ years of relevant RF IC design experience
• Strong understanding of RF fundamentals including Smith charts, transmission lines, wave propagation and substrate coupling
• Experience with advanced CMOS technologies, ideally FD SOI or FinFET
• Practical experience across RF circuit design, custom layout, EM simulation and post layout analysis
• Experience with silicon validation and high-frequency measurement equipment
