Job summary

Dyson Institute in Singapore is seeking a Research Engineer with experience in biological probes, biosensing and materials characterisation to join Dyson's Personal Care and Beauty Research Team. You will collaborate across disciplines to build new capabilities and translate research into downstream development partners.

The role requires hands-on experimental skills, familiarity with biological assays, electrochemistry and data analysis, and 1–3 years in complex R&D environments.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Materials Science, Bioengineering or related discipline with strong experimental focus.
• Experience developing technology in a industry or commercial context is desired.
• Familiarity with materials characterisation techniques: elemental/chemical analysis, structural/microstructure analysis, electrical/optical properties, mechanical/thermal properties.
• Knowledge of electrochemistry and biosensing; experience in a biological wet lab and designing/ executing biological assays is advantageous.
• Proficient with experimental instrumentation, self-built setups, calibration, validation and benchmarking.
• Strong quantitative/analytical thinking and ability to translate biology into engineering constraints.
• Experience with experimental design, troubleshooting noisy data, and data analysis.
• Proficient in computational data analysis, image analysis, and basic programming.
• Strong communication skills for presenting complex ideas and data.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with scientists and engineers to define requirements for new or existing research projects.
• Provide technical perspective as SME to cross-functional teams for biosensing and materials characterisation technologies.
• Review literature and patents for advances, new materials, and calibration methodologies.
• Develop and validate advanced analytical/testing protocols.
• Integrate knowledge of material properties with biological findings.
• Interpret results, identify issues, and iteratively improve experimental methods.
• Coordinate small projects or workstreams and own deliverables.
• Present research plans and outcomes to leadership.
• Pursue translational research to support product concepts.
