Job summary

Dyson Institute seeks a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join its research team in Singapore. You will lead electronics research projects, mentor graduates and engineers, and explore emerging technologies through papers, patents, and industry collaboration.

You will design, simulate, build and test demonstration rigs and prototype systems for new power technologies, including motor drives and battery management, while ensuring robust, compliant design and clear stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electronic Engineering with relevant research or industry experience.
• Experience in motor drives, inverters, SMPS or battery management systems.
• Ability to interpret datasheets for power devices.
• Experience with SPICE-based simulations.
• Proficient in ECAD and lab soldering/testing.

Responsibilities

• Lead an electronics research project and mentor graduates.
• Research emerging technologies via papers, patents, supplier engagement and collaboration with external partners.
• Design, simulate, build and test demonstration rigs and prototype systems.
• Develop power electronic systems including motor drives, battery management systems, power supplies and chargers.
• Select and evaluate power semiconductors, magnetic and passive components for cost/size/performance.
• Develop simulation models and validate against lab results.
• Conduct thermal, electrical and EMC analyses for robust design.
• Create clear technical reports and present concepts and results to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan activities and deliver technically.
• Identify risks and drive mitigation and continuous improvement.
