Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the electrical design of data center projects, including utility intake, substations, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, power distribution, busways, earthing, lighting, and associated systems.
• Plan and oversee MV/LV power distribution, backup power and redundancy strategies, power pathways, equipment layouts, load requirements, and capacity planning for future expansion.
• Apply company design standards and ensure compliance with industry standards, local regulations, authority requirements, project specifications, and customer expectations.
• Coordinate electrical interfaces across mechanical, architectural, civil, structural, fire protection, ELV/ICT, BMS/EPMS/DCIM, security, operations, commissioning, and construction disciplines.
• Provide technical guidance on electrical systems to support reliability, redundancy, safety, maintainability, scalability, operational readiness, and project delivery.
• Review drawings, specifications, calculations, single-line diagrams, equipment schedules, system architecture diagrams, technical studies, and proposals to ensure completeness, coordination, accuracy, and constructability.
• Collaborate with consultants, contractors, vendors, and suppliers to evaluate and select electrical equipment, systems, materials, and technical solutions that meet project and lifecycle requirements.
• Support technical issue resolution, installation coordination, testing, commissioning, as-built reviews, documentation checks, and electrical system handover activities.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Design Leadership

• Lead and oversee the electrical design of data center projects, including utility intake, substations, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, power distribution, busways, earthing, lighting, and associated systems.

Power Infrastructure Planning

• Plan and oversee MV/LV power distribution, backup power and redundancy strategies, power pathways, equipment layouts, load requirements, and capacity planning for future expansion.

Standards and Compliance

• Apply company design standards, engineering principles, and lessons learned while ensuring compliance with industry standards, local regulations, authority requirements, project specifications, and customer expectations.

Systems Integration

• Coordinate electrical interfaces across mechanical, architectural, civil, structural, fire protection, ELV/ICT, BMS/EPMS/DCIM, security, operations, commissioning, and construction disciplines.

Technical Leadership

• Provide technical guidance on electrical systems to support reliability, redundancy, safety, maintainability, scalability, operational readiness, and project delivery.

Design Review and Quality Assurance

• Review drawings, specifications, calculations, single-line diagrams, equipment schedules, system architecture diagrams, technical studies, and proposals to ensure completeness, coordination, accuracy, and constructability.

Vendor and Consultant Coordination

• Collaborate with consultants, contractors, vendors, and suppliers to evaluate and select electrical equipment, systems, materials, and technical solutions that meet project and lifecycle requirements.

Construction, Commissioning and Handover Support

• Support technical issue resolution, installation coordination, testing, commissioning, as-built reviews, documentation checks, and electrical system handover activities.

Education & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Familiarity with electrical design standards and specifications, as well as national, American, and British design codes.
• Experience with Southeast Asian design and approval processes.
• Strong knowledge of data center electrical systems, including power distribution, backup power, resilience, redundancy, and infrastructure integration.
• In-depth knowledge of IEC and EN standards, together with applicable local electrical codes and regulations.
• Proven ability to lead and coordinate complex design workstreams, supported by strong organizational, coordination, and leadership skills.

Experience

• Minimum 8 years of electrical design experience within Malaysia, Indonesia, or other Southeast Asian markets.
• Demonstrated experience in the electrical design and management of data center projects.
• Proven track record in delivering electrical concept and detailed design for large-scale industrial, logistics, mission-critical, or data center developments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities to address design and construction challenges effectively.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated, proactive, eager to learn, and capable of taking ownership of responsibilities.
