Job summary

Lewe Engineering Pte Ltd in Singapore seeks an Electrical Design Manager to lead the electrical design function within its EPC/EPCM framework. You will bridge concept design and on-site execution, ensuring technical excellence and regulatory compliance.

You will mentor engineers, lead VE, coordinate with BIM, and drive integration of electrical with MEP packages across large-scale projects for clients in data centers, commercial and industrial sectors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (PEB Singapore).
• 7+ years in Electrical Design, 5+ in consultancy (MUST).
• Deep HT/LT distribution, standby gensets, UPS, ELV integration.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit (BIM) and electrical calculation tools (ETAP/Amtech).
• EMA LEW Grade 7/8 or PE is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead design management and review SLDs, layouts and specs for large projects.
• Perform value engineering to save cost while maintaining safety and performance.
• Coordinate electrical with mechanical and fire services; BIM coordination from electrical view.

Job description

Job Purpose:

The Electrical Design Manager will lead the electrical engineering design function within our EPC/EPCM framework. Leveraging your extensive consultancy background, you will bridge the gap between conceptual design and on-site execution. You will be responsible for technical excellence, value engineering, and ensuring all electrical systems are compliant with Singapore’s stringent regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design Management & Technical Leadership

• Lead the electrical design team in developing and reviewing SLDs (Single Line Diagrams), layout drawings, and technical specifications for large-scale industrial, commercial, or data center projects.

• PerformValue Engineering (VE): Review consultant designs to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve "constructability" without compromising safety or performance.

• Oversee the integration of Electrical systems with Mechanical and Fire services to ensure a seamless M&E package.

2. Regulatory Compliance & Coordination

• Ensure all designs comply withSingapore Standards (SS 638, SS 650, SS 555)and BCA Green Mark requirements.

• Act as the primary technical point of contact for external Consultants, Clients, and relevant authorities (EMA, SP PowerGrid, FSSD).

• Lead theBIM/Revit coordinationprocess from an electrical perspective, ensuring "clash-free" digital models before site mobilization.

3. Procurement & Construction Support

• Provide technical evaluation of vendors and subcontractors during the tender and procurement phase.

• Resolve complex technical issues surfacing during the construction and commissioning phases (T&C).

• Review and approve shop drawings and Material Submission Forms (MSF).

Technical Skills & Qualifications

• Education:Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Recognized by theProfessional Engineers Board (PEB) Singapore).

• Experience:Minimum 7 years of experience in Electrical Design, withat least 5 years specifically within a Consultancy firmis a “MUST”

• Expertise:Deep understanding of HT/LT power distribution, standby generators, UPS systems, and ELV integration.

  • Proficiency in design software such asAutoCAD, Revit (BIM), and electrical calculation tools (e.g., Amtech or ETAP).

• Certifications:Possession of anEMA Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW)Grade 7/8 (Technician/Engineer) or being aChartered/Professional Engineer (PE)is highly advantageous.

• Mobility: As when needed

Soft Skills Required

• The "Consultant-Contractor" Mindset:Ability to translate complex engineering theories into practical, on-site solutions.

• Communication:Strong negotiation skills to manage expectations between the client (who wants everything) and the project manager (who has a budget).

• Leadership:Proven track record of mentoring junior engineers and leading a design department.
