Job summary

ByteBridge, based in Singapore, seeks a Director of Engineering to lead the engineering design team for data center and critical infrastructure projects across APAC. The role requires a strong Electrical Engineering background and senior leadership to guide technical direction and design quality.

You will oversee delivery from concept through commissioning, coordinate across disciplines, and mentor engineers while collaborating with clients and partners to ensure practical, compliant solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 12 years of relevant engineering experience in data centers or critical infrastructure.
• Proven experience leading engineering/design teams.
• Strong understanding of data center power infrastructure and redundancy.
• Regional/APAC project experience is advantageous.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Director of Engineering to lead and manage our engineering design team in Singapore, supporting data center and critical infrastructure projects across APAC.

This is a senior management role responsible for the overall leadership, technical direction, design quality and development of the engineering team. The successful candidate must have a strong Electrical Engineering (EE) background and be able to provide technical oversight and guidance across complex data center projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the engineering design team, including team structure, resource planning, workload allocation and performance management.
• Set the overall technical direction, engineering standards and design processes for the team.
• Oversee engineering design delivery from concept and detailed design through construction support and commissioning.
• Lead design reviews and ensure engineering deliverables meet project requirements, client expectations and applicable standards.
• Provide technical oversight for electrical systems including MV/LV distribution, transformers, switchgear, UPS, generators, busway and critical power infrastructure.
• Review and challenge key technical deliverables including SLDs, design calculations, equipment selections and technical specifications.
• Ensure effective coordination between Electrical, Mechanical, Controls/BMS and other engineering disciplines.
• Manage engineering resources and design schedules across multiple projects.
• Identify and resolve design risks, technical gaps and constructability issues.
• Work closely with Project Management, Pre-Sales, Procurement and site teams to ensure designs are technically sound, practical and commercially viable.
• Act as a senior technical representative in client meetings, design workshops and technical discussions.
• Manage relationships with consultants, contractors, OEMs and other technical partners.
• Develop the engineering team's technical capability through coaching, mentoring and structured development.
• Drive continuous improvement of engineering processes, design quality and technical standards.
• Support the evaluation and adoption of new technologies for data center and critical infrastructure solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) or equivalent.
• Minimum 12 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably within data centers, mission-critical facilities or critical infrastructure.
• Proven experience leading and managing engineering/design teams.
• Strong Electrical Engineering knowledge with the ability to review, challenge and guide complex electrical designs.
• Strong understanding of data center power infrastructure, redundancy and resiliency principles.
• Experience with MV/LV systems, UPS, generators, transformers, switchgear and power distribution.
• Good understanding of multidisciplinary MEP design and coordination.
• Experience managing engineering delivery across multiple projects and priorities.
• Strong leadership, people management and stakeholder management skills.
• Able to communicate effectively with clients, consultants, contractors and senior management.
• Experience supporting projects through design, construction, testing and commissioning.
• Regional/APAC project experience would be an advantage.

Preferred

• Professional Engineer (PE) registration or equivalent professional qualification.
• Experience in hyperscale or large-scale data center projects.
• Experience working within a design consultancy, data center operator, design & build contractor or systems integrator.
• Knowledge of high-density data center infrastructure and liquid cooling solutions would be an advantage.
