Job summary

ByteDance operates a dedicated Server Operations Team responsible for the full lifecycle management of a massive server fleet. The team builds firmware management and BMC systems, and develops automation for O&M tasks.

Key duties include automating server commands, scripts and firmware upgrades; ensuring secure, high-availability services; and daily troubleshooting and analysis of complex faults across hardware and software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in science/engineering (CS, electronic information engineering, automation).
• Proficient in mainstream server hardware architectures (x86, ARM) and related software; able to troubleshoot server anomalies independently.
• Excellent problem analysis and troubleshooting skills; capable of handling complex system/hardware faults and formulating emergency/long-term solutions.
• Proficient in Linux systems; skilled in server hardware configuration and troubleshooting under Linux; proficient in Shell scripting and Python or Go.
• Strong sense of responsibility; fast learner; enjoys teamwork and adapting to fast-paced tech environments.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for operation and management of large-scale servers, including building firmware management and BMC systems and automating operations and maintenance with GUI-based tools.
• Develop automated server O&M systems and automation capabilities for commands, scripts, tools, and firmware upgrades.
• Implement automated BMC management networks in collaboration with security and network engineering teams to ensure fast, highly available services.
• Oversee daily hardware/software O&M, perform online troubleshooting, fault handling, and analyze complex issues.
• Develop software/tools, system management, and maintain stable O&M automation services.
