Job summary

ByteDance operates a dedicated Server Operations Team responsible for the full lifecycle management of a massive server fleet. The team builds firmware management and BMC systems, and develops automation for O&M tasks.

Key duties include automating server commands, scripts and firmware upgrades; ensuring secure, high-availability services; and daily troubleshooting and analysis of complex faults across hardware and software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in science/engineering (CS, electronic information engineering, automation).
• Proficient in mainstream server hardware architectures (x86, ARM) and related software; able to troubleshoot server anomalies independently.
• Excellent problem analysis and troubleshooting skills; capable of handling complex system/hardware faults and formulating emergency/long-term solutions.
• Proficient in Linux systems; skilled in server hardware configuration and troubleshooting under Linux; proficient in Shell scripting and Python or Go.
• Strong sense of responsibility; fast learner; enjoys teamwork and adapting to fast-paced tech environments.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for operation and management of large-scale servers, including building firmware management and BMC systems and automating operations and maintenance with GUI-based tools.
• Develop automated server O&M systems and automation capabilities for commands, scripts, tools, and firmware upgrades.
• Implement automated BMC management networks in collaboration with security and network engineering teams to ensure fast, highly available services.
• Oversee daily hardware/software O&M, perform online troubleshooting, fault handling, and analyze complex issues.
• Develop software/tools, system management, and maintain stable O&M automation services.

Team Introduction:The ByteDance Server Operations Team is responsible for the full lifecycle operation management and operation technical services of ByteDance's massive server fleet, delivering industry-leading server operation and maintenance services to businesses to ensure and drive their growth. Its job responsibilities cover areas including server operation management, stability operation management, data center server operation and maintenance management, maintenance and repair, as well as the planning and development of operational process specifications and platform systems.

Job Description

• Responsible for the operation and management of large-scale servers, including the construction of server firmware management system and BMC management system, as well as the development of related server operation and maintenance automation and GUI-based operation capabilities
• Responsible for the construction of the automated server operation and maintenance system, including the development of automated capabilities for operation and maintenance commands, scripts, tools, and firmware upgrade
• In charge of formulating and implementing automated solutions for BMC management networks, and working together with the security and network engineering teams to build a secure and controllable operation and maintenance environment, so as to provide users with fast and highly available BMC services
• Responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of hardware/software related to server operation and maintenance, online troubleshooting, fault handling, as well as diagnosis and analysis of complex issues
• Responsible for software and tool development, system management and other work, to ensure the efficient and stable operation of relevant operation and maintenance automation services

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or above, majoring in science and engineering, such as computer science, electronic information engineering, automation and other related majors; those with extensive experience in large-scale server infrastructure management and architecture design are preferred
• Proficient in mainstream server hardware architectures (such as x86, ARM, etc.) and their supporting software, and capable of independently troubleshooting and optimizing server anomalies

Preferred Qualifications:

• Excellent problem analysis and troubleshooting skills, capable of independently handling complex system and hardware faults, and formulating emergency response plans and long-term solutions.
• Proficient in Linux systems, skilled in server hardware configuration and troubleshooting under Linux environments; adept at Shell scripting, and proficient in using either Python or Golang programming languages.
• Strong sense of responsibility, meticulous and conscientious, passionate about work and team-oriented; quick at learning, full of enthusiasm and curiosity for new technologies, strong in problem-solving and hands-on capabilities; and able to adapt to fast-paced work and a diverse range of tasks.
