Salling Search seeks a Senior Chartering Manager for its Singapore desk to lead the Supramax/Ultramax chartering effort in the Pacific. You will fix cargoes, take in tonnage, and influence strategy alongside the Regional Manager, with direct impact on earnings.

You are a senior professional who mentors others, builds client and broker relationships, and travels regularly to meet clients. This role requires 5+ years in dry bulk chartering and strong commercial judgement.

Qualifications

Senior Chartering Manager, Supramax/Ultramax Singapore

An established international dry bulk operator is adding another Senior Chartering Manager to its Singapore desk as it grows its Pacific business. The team is lean, the fleet is active, and the decisions you make go straight to the bottom line.

The Role

Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will be one of the senior voices on a Supramax/Ultramax desk covering the Pacific, and a strong sparring partner to the Regional Manager on strategy, positioning and market calls. You will fix cargoes, take in tonnage, and work with the team on where ships go next, across both spot and period business.

• Shape and carry out the desk’s trading strategy using solid in-house research and market fundamentals, and manage the exposure on your positions, including FFA hedging where it makes sense.
• Own your key charterer and broker relationships. You will sit across the table from senior decision makers on the client side and be trusted to lead those conversations.
• Mentor the other charterers on the desk, sharing how you read the market, build relationships and structure deals.
• Work with operations on live voyages, and look for freight opportunities for the wider group beyond your own segment. Regular travel to see clients is part of the job.

The Right Person

• Required: at least five years in dry bulk chartering, and a record of trading tonnage and cargoes and making earnings decisions yourself. Experience from Handysize, Supramax or Ultramax is welcome, and Pacific market experience is a plus, but strong charterers from other basins are also encouraged to apply. So are shipbrokers ready to move to the principal side.
• You work independently and don’t need close supervision. You take initiative, use sound commercial judgement, and take ownership of your positions, including the ones that don’t go your way. You are confident enough to commit to a fixture and to challenge your manager’s view when the market says otherwise.
• You stay composed and keep the bigger picture in mind when the market moves quickly. People trust you, whether that’s a junior broker or a client’s managing director, and you enjoy helping others on the team improve.
