Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of local roads, delivery areas, and traffic patterns.
  • Experience using GPS, route-planning, fleet-management, or warehouse-management systems.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and optimize daily delivery and collection routes based on locations, windows, capacity, and driver availability.
  • Coordinate with warehouse, transportation, customer service, and inventory teams.
  • Assign vehicles and drivers to routes; prepare and distribute schedules and manifests.
  • Monitor delivery progress and respond to delays, breakdowns, or issues.
  • Use route-planning, GPS, and management software.
  • Ensure loads meet route sequence, weight limits, and safety requirements.
  • Confirm orders, addresses, quantities, and delivery instructions.
  • Track delivery performance, fuel usage, mileage, and route efficiency.
  • Communicate schedule changes to departments and customers.
  • Maintain records of routes, confirmations, failed deliveries, and incidents.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce cost, mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery times.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and health and safety standards.
  • Support investigation and resolution of delivery complaints.

Job description

We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Route Planner to coordinate efficient delivery and collection routes for warehouse operations. The successful candidate will plan daily transportation schedules, assign routes and vehicles, monitor deliveries, and ensure that shipments reach customers on time and cost-effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and optimize daily delivery and collection routes based on customer locations, delivery windows, vehicle capacity, and driver availability.
  • Coordinate with warehouse, transportation, customer service, and inventory teams.
  • Assign vehicles and drivers to appropriate routes.
  • Prepare and distribute daily route schedules, delivery manifests, and driver instructions.
  • Monitor delivery progress and respond to delays, breakdowns, traffic, or customer-related issues.
  • Use route-planning, GPS, fleet-management, or warehouse-management software.
  • Ensure vehicles are loaded according to route sequence, weight limits, and safety requirements.
  • Confirm that orders, addresses, quantities, and delivery instructions are accurate.
  • Track delivery performance, fuel usage, mileage, and route efficiency.
