Job summary

GUAN GI CONSTRUCTION PTE. LTD. is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to handle tendering, cost estimation and measurement tasks for Singapore projects. You will review drawings, prepare take-offs, and submit quotations while coordinating with main contractors and project teams.

The role requires a Diploma/Degree in QS or Civil Engineering and at least 1 year of relevant experience. Proficiency in Excel with familiarity in AutoCAD/Bluebeam is preferred; ability to manage multiple projects is essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Building or related disciplines.
• Minimum 1 year of QS experience in Singapore’s construction industry.
• Experience in earthwork, excavation, demolition, civil engineering or structural works is an advantage.
• Good understanding of quantity measurement, costing, rate analysis and construction pricing.
• Able to read civil, structural and architectural drawings.
• Familiar with progress claims, variation orders and final accounts.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with AutoCAD/Bluebeam preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare quantity take-offs and measurements from tender drawings and project documents.

• Prepare and submit tender quotations to main contractors; assist with pricing revisions.
• Liaise with main contractor QS/project teams on pricing, scope clarification and commercial matters.
• Prepare monthly progress claims and monitor certification/payments.
• Measure and price variations orders and additional works.
• Identify variation and claim opportunities from site changes and negotiate.
• Review subcontractor quotations and ensure costs are commercially viable.
• Assist in preparing final accounts and reconcile quantities and costs.
• Maintain records of site measurements, bills, claims and project costing.
• Develop Excel templates for quantity measurement and project tracking.
• Provide general administrative support for commercial/project team.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare quantity take-offs and measurements from tender drawings and project documents, particularly for:
  1. Earthwork excavation and disposal
  2. Cut-and-fill works
  3. Imported soil and backfilling
  4. Demolition works
  5. Concrete and reinforcement works
  6. Structural steel removal
  7. Site clearance and reinstatement works
  8. Prepare cost estimates, rate analysis and quotations for new tenders and projects.
• Review tender documents, drawings and specifications to identify scope of works, quantities and potential cost risks.
• Prepare and submit tender quotations to main contractors and assist with subsequent pricing revisions and clarifications.
• Liaise with main contractor QS/project teams regarding pricing, measurements, scope clarification and commercial matters.
• Prepare and submit monthly progress claims, monitor certification/payment and follow up on outstanding amounts.
• Measure, price and prepare supporting documents for Variation Orders (VO) and additional works.
• Identify potential variation and claim opportunities from changes in site conditions, drawings or instructions, and negotiate with the main contractor.
• Review subcontractor and supplier quotations and compare pricing to ensure costs are commercially viable.
• Assist in preparing final accounts and ensure project quantities and costs are properly reconciled.
• Work closely with the project/site team to carry out joint measurements and site quantity verification.
• Maintain proper records of site measurements, delivery orders, disposal records, claims, variations and project costing.
• Develop and maintain standardised Excel templates for quantity measurement, costing, quotations, claims and project tracking.
• Provide general administrative and documentation support for the commercial/project team.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Building or related disciplines.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant QS experience in Singapore’s construction industry.
• Candidates with experience in earthwork, excavation, demolition, civil engineering or structural works will have an advantage.
• Good understanding of quantity measurement, costing, rate analysis and construction pricing.
• Able to read and understand civil, structural and architectural drawings.
• Familiar with progress claims, variation orders and final accounts.
• Knowledge of SOPA and Singapore construction contract practices will be an advantage.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam or other quantity measurement software is preferred.
• Able to work independently, manage deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Good communication and negotiation skills.
• Practical, hands-on attitude and willing to work closely with site/project teams.
