Job description

The Project Manager (Electrical) will oversee and manage all electrical A&A works and electrical projects ensuring that projects are executed on time, within budget, and in compliance with Singapore’s codes and regulations. This role requires strong experience in Variation Order (VO) management, manpower allocation, and technical problem-solving for electrical and ELV (Extra-Low Voltage) systems in commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings.

Responsibilities

1. Project Planning & Coordination
   • Plan and manage electrical A&A projects from initiation to completion, including design review, resource planning, and scheduling.
   • Liaise with clients, consultants, and main contractors to clarify project scope, specifications, and timelines.
   • Coordinate with the site team, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth execution of works.
2. Variation Order (VO) Management
   • Identify, prepare, and submit VO proposals based on site changes or additional client requirements.
   • Ensure VO costings are accurate and align with contract terms.
   • Track VO approvals and integrate them into the project timeline and budget.
3. Manpower & Resource Management
   • Plan and allocate site manpower, ensuring optimal productivity and skill utilization.
   • Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure adherence to project schedules.
   • Forecast manpower requirements for different project phases and manage overtime efficiently.
4. Technical & Site Supervision
   • Oversee all electrical installation works, including LV distribution, lighting, power, earthing, and ELV systems.
   • Ensure compliance with Singapore standards such as SS638, EMA, and BCA requirements.
   • Provide technical solutions for site issues, design conflicts, and authority compliance matters.
   • Conduct site inspections and ensure quality workmanship and safety.
5. Budgeting & Reporting
   • Monitor project costs, control expenditures, and minimize wastage.
   • Prepare progress reports, site updates, and project documentation for management and clients.
   • Ensure timely submission of claims, VO, and project close-out documents.

Qualifications & Skills

Education & Certification

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW) or knowledge of EMA licensing requirements is preferred.
• Familiarity with Singapore A&A project workflows and BCA regulations.

Experience

• Minimum 5–8 years of experience in electrical contracting, with at least 3 years in A&A or retrofit projects.
• Proven experience in VO preparation, submission, and negotiation.
• Experience managing manpower and subcontractors for small to medium electrical projects.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of electrical and ELV systems.
• Familiar with Singapore Standards (SS), BCA, SCDF, EMA, and WSH regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, shop drawings, and single-line diagrams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, and project reporting tools.
