About the Role:
We are looking for a proactive and organised Project Engineer to support end-to-end project delivery for solar installation projects. You will be involved from project planning to commissioning and handover, working closely with developers, authorities, contractors, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning & Scheduling
- Review project contracts, scope and technical requirements.
- Develop the overall project schedule and secure developer approval.
- Conduct and lead pre-construction site surveys.
- Prepare and submit site survey reports on time.
2. Procurement & Cost Control
- Evaluate and recommend suitable suppliers and contractors.
- Support the QS in preparing project cost sheets and securing internal approvals.
- Raise purchase requisitions (PRs) and monitor material delivery lead times.
- Track project costs to ensure targets are met.
- Prepare and submit variation orders (VOs) for out-of-scope works.
3. Design & Technical Coordination
- Assist in preparing design drawings and coordinating the approval process.
- Develop method statements (MS) and risk assessments (RA).
- Coordinate design changes and ensure accurate as-built (AB) drawings.
4. Permits & Regulatory Compliance
- Apply for necessary permits (e.g., CASS, RSAF, TC, HDB) for installation and hoisting work.
- Submit installation notices and liaise with authorities for approvals.
5. Site Execution & Quality Assurance
- Supervise contractors to ensure installation work follows approved designs.
- Work with clients to address deviations when site conditions differ from design.
- Oversee logistics and hoisting activities.
- Track daily site progress and resolve site issues with the supervisor.
- Maintain proper project documentation.
6. Testing, Commissioning & Handover
- Coordinate testing and commissioning (T&C) schedules with developers.
- Plan and execute shutdowns and power turn-ons.
- Compile and submit Mechanical Completion, Material Record Books (MRB), and PAC documents.
7. Reporting & Stakeholder Management
- Prepare weekly progress reports and attend project meetings.
- Support the QS in submitting progress claims and follow up on approvals.
- Verify and approve subcontractor progress claims.
Requirements
- Qualifications: At least degree holder or Equivalent in Mechanical/ Electrical/Electronic Engineering
- Experience: At least 2 years of project experience, preferably in solar PV (rooftop HDB/commercial/industrial). Experience coordinating with CASS, RSAF, HDB, Town Councils, and working with PE/LEW is a plus.
- Site Coordination & Safety: Strong in managing subcontractors, site progress, and hoisting/logistics. Familiar with work-at-height and hoisting safety requirements and risk assessments.
- Documentation & Compliance: Able to manage project documents (MS, RA, permits, QA/QC, T&C, PAC/MRB) and handle submissions to clients/developers.
- Soft Skills: Proactive, hands‑on, able to work under tight timelines, and strong in problem‑solving and communication.
- IT Skills: Basic competency in project scheduling tools e.g. MS Project
- Class 3 licence is a plus!
