Job summary

GovTech Singapore is hiring an Engineering Manager to set the technical direction for a focused project scope, defining a clear vision that meets quality, security, and compliance standards while establishing DevOps/SRE and secure coding baselines.

The role requires a hands‑on leader who can drive small‑scale design reviews, manage tech debt, and deliver solutions that balance new features with BAU tasks — all while applying SWE Practice standards and surfacing learnings to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Experience managing or leading an infrastructure or platform engineering team.
• Familiarity with government or highly regulated IT environments.
• Strong understanding of security principles, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
• Excellent communication skills to translate technical issues for non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with ITIL, change management, or similar service management practices.
• Certifications: AWS/Azure, ITIL 4, or equivalent (desirable).
• Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code tools and DevSecOps practices is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define a clear technical vision for a focused scope of projects meeting quality, security, and compliance standards.
• Establish baseline DevOps/SRE practices and secure coding standards within area.
• Lead small‑scale design reviews and address tech debt with minor improvements.
• Deliver solutions balancing new features with BAU tasks while keeping a stable foundation.
• Surface learnings to senior leadership and apply SWE Practice guidance across engineering.
• Develop awareness of AI-assisted development and responsible tool usage under guidance.
